Explorer’s Club: Finding a Way with Hunt Priest
April 10 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm PDT
Ram Dass teacher Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji) told the Westerners,
“Meditate like Christ. Lose yourself in love.”
This teaching invites us to explore the deep connections between devotion, faith, and transcendent experience—themes that also emerge in the intersection of Christian contemplative practice and psychedelic healing.
This month, the Ram Dass Explorer’s Club welcomes Hunt Priest, Episcopal priest and founder of Ligare: A Christian Psychedelic Society, for a thought-provoking exploration of these questions.
In an early psilocybin experience at John Hopikins, Hunt heard a recording of Krishna Das’ My God is Real / Hare Ram. One line struck him deeply:
“I have found a way to live in the presence of the Lord.”
It was a moment of profound affirmation—one that continues to shape his work at the intersection of Christian spirituality and psychedelic healing.
About Our Guest: Hunt Priest
Hunt Priest was a participant in the Johns Hopkins/NYU psilocybin study for religious leaders in 2016 while serving as rector (senior pastor) of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Mercer Island, Washington. His encounters with psilocybin opened him to the healing and consciousness-raising power of sacred plants and fungi, revealing their deep connection to his own Christian practice and ministry. These epiphanies forever changed the trajectory of his work, leading him to found Ligare: A Christian Psychedelic Society in 2021. Today, he continues to explore and share the transformative power of these experiences from his home in Savannah, Georgia.
Ligare brings together psychedelic researchers, mental health clinicians, spiritual guides, healers, and people of goodwill, regardless of creed, to co-create a movement of healing and wholeness. Grounded in the Christian contemplative tradition, Ligare is committed to justice, peace, and recognizing the divine presence in all beings.
What to Expect in This Gathering:
- The ways psychedelics can deepen faith, healing, and spiritual transformation
- The Christian contemplative tradition and its connection to non-ordinary states of consciousness
- How mystical experiences can offer insight, meaning, and a path of alignment with the Divine
This gathering is for seekers, spiritual explorers, and the curious—a space where we can engage in open and thoughtful conversation about the evolving landscape of spirituality and psychedelics.
