Women’s Satsang: Unlearning Patriarchy through the Practice of Chanting with Lily Cushman
September 17, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm PDT
As women, we are all too familiar with death by Misogyny’s thousand cuts. The constant diminishment of our value due to our gender reinforced through lower compensation and airtime, higher expectations and standards, and damaging views of beauty and aging. Through the practice of chanting, we can cultivate a sense of self that is not confined by society’s limitations, embarking on the healing journey specific to women walking a spiritual path today. Open to all women, regardless of previous experience with spiritual practice. Find your voice, heal your wounds, own your power, and explore the possibilities for thriving despite patriarchy’s hold on modern life.
Lily Cushman is a teacher, writer and musician based in the Bay Area. Her work is a synthesis of Classical Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Theravada Buddhism. For nearly a decade Lily was the Owner and Director of the Brooklyn Yoga School, a lineage-based school run entirely by donation, voted “Best of New York” by NY Magazine. She now serves as Director of Operations to world-renowned meditation teacher, Sharon Salzberg. Lily’s first book “A Little Bit of Mantras” was released in 2019 from Sterling Publishing.
